ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for an R&D Technician – New Product Development to join our R&D team. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing and developing immunotherapy products, designing and executing experimental protocols, and performing analytical techniques focused on improving and developing new biotechnology products.

This role requires a highly technical candidate with a strong sense of autonomy, critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and proven experience working in regulated GMP environments.


Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Optimize fungal fermentation and culture processes, with a focus on improving yield and scaling up production.
  • Develop, optimize, and scale up production processes for protein isolation and processing.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate analytical instruments, including pH meters, balances, centrifuges, and precision dosing systems.
  • Draft and implement experimental protocols in collaboration with manufacturing and cross-functional teams.
  • Analyze in-process and final samples using biochemical assays (SDS-PAGE, protein quantification assays) and immunological techniques (Western blot, ELISA), and critically interpret the results.
  • Ensure strict compliance with GMP/GLP regulations, guaranteeing full traceability of all processes carried out and continuous adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Manage technical documentation, including the accurate recording of raw data in laboratory notebooks and logbooks, and the preparation of technical reports in accordance with internal and external regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to process optimization, scale-up, and technology transfer activities.

Requirements

Academic Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, including biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacy, or related fields.
  • A specialized master’s degree is preferred.
  • Previous relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or biotechnology process development will be highly valued.

Professional Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in R&D and/or at least 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Proven experience in microbiology, preferably involving fungal systems.
  • Proven experience in the development, optimization, and scale-up of biotechnological processes.

Technical Knowledge

Bioprocessing

  • Experience with biomolecule isolation, purification, and formulation techniques, including:
    • Chromatography
    • Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF)
    • Freeze-drying

Biochemical and Immunological Analysis

  • Hands-on experience with:
    • ELISA
    • SDS-PAGE
    • Western blot
  • Knowledge of methods for quantifying protein and total nitrogen.

Scale-Up & Technology Transfer

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with process scale-up and technology transfer activities is a plus.

Quality & Regulatory Compliance

  • Experience handling technical documentation in GMP/GLP-regulated environments.
  • Experience drafting standard operating procedures (SOPs) in multidisciplinary and regulated settings.

Systems & Software

  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Experience with analytical data management software is a plus.

Languages

  • Advanced English level (C1).
  • Basic German (B1 level) is a plus.
